In our work on accent bias, we argue that these types of experiences emerge because of an elite expectation of what the ‘ideal’ student looks and sounds like. Both student committees are committed to tackling elitism, by platforming the voices of working-class and state-educated students, as well as addressing the underepresentation of Scottish voices on campus.
